Ethics

My process, principles, values, and mission. I carry these thoughts into every team I collaborate with. They are my compass for my pursuit of excellence in all things.

Process

Requirements gathering

Understand the problem, customer, and need. Is problem is worth solving?

Exploration

Explore possibilities, discover viable options, and review them collectively.

Refine and iterate

Refine, iterate, expose, and avoid traps. Iterate and debate until on solid footing.

Align

Involve key stakeholders. Review your design and iterate based on feedback.

Build

Big rocks are moved. The team can effectively build. Collaborate during dev.

Test

Reached MVP! Now break the product. Adapt and fix broken experiences.

Ship

Product is verified. Sign-off that the product is true to the vision. Ship!

Iterate

Users are included throughout the process but now it’s real. Begin again.

Divergent and convergent thinking

Principles

Beauty is the key

People should love what is made for a long time. Beauty isn’t luxury.

Minimalism improves use

Remove all unnecessary things to make an experience as simple as possible.

Ambiguity has utility

Avoid constraints early, allowing seemingly improbable ideas to surface.

There’s more than 1 way

There are many solutions to every problem. The 1st usually isn’t the best.

Forget attractiveness

Design can't be attractive to all people. Avoid attempts to please everyone.

Least effort

Choose the easiest path to accomplish a goal. Outcomes should feel effortless.

Modularity

Design indpendent parts, with standard interfaces so people can customize and contribute.

Unity

Design should cohesively fit together to improve UX and help teams build.

Design sustainably

Design to minimize impact on the environment and improve quality of life.

Practice

Multi-disciplinary

Design considers all brand touchpoints and interactions with a product.

Shared

Everyone creating is responsible for what is delivered to the customer.

Inclusive

Everyone involved in a project should practice design thinking.

Values

The golden rule

Treat others as you would have them treat you.

Meaningful work

Meaning increases performance, commitment, and satisfaction.

Impact

Work should positively impact your workplace, customers, and the world.

Fairness

Be impartial and just without playing favorites or discriminating.

Humility

Be grounded in self-awareness and able to admit our faults.

Forgiveness

Extend forgiveness if someone admits wrong-doing and is willing to change.

Agency

Have influence in your work so that your vision, if correct, can be actualized.

Autonomy

Be able to execute ideas, even if that means we have to live with mistakes.

Thoroughness

Do the work required to finish a job correctly or we incur debt to pay later.

Mission

I’m passionate about bringing vision to reality, focused on meaningful ideas, applying excellence in craft, to build impactful experiences, that help business grow, and make the world a better place.
